Firstly thank you for your interest in private piano lessons through Epics Music for your child/yourself. Epics Music’s policies and guidelines are below. It would be greatly appreciated if you could read through the policy so you have a full understanding of what is involved and require in our upcoming lessons, which I am looking forward too!

Students are required to practice at home between lessons. Daily practice is vital to musical progress. The recommended amount of practice time will be discussed with the student depending on their age and skill level. Sufficient scheduled practice time on a daily basis is the surest guarantee that you, or your child, will experience consistent progress at the piano. Learning the necessary skills to become proficient at the keyboard will not occur by simply going to piano lessons. It takes committed practice on a daily basis during the week to put skills covered at the lesson into motion.

Make sure lesson books are bought to each lesson as progress and notes are made each week. This includes exercise book, Alfred’s lesson book and any sheet music we have been working on.

Parents may stay to observe piano lessons or leave if they prefer. Siblings are welcome as long as they aren't disruptive to the piano lesson. Parents and siblings must act in an appropriately. Siblings and friends must be accompanied by an adult during piano lessonsunless otherwise discussed.

Lessons can be paid either per term or per lesson. Payment is required by the Due date on the invoice. A $10 late fee will be assessed for payments received after this date. Make-up lessons will be given at no additional charge, provided that 24 hours advance notice is given that a lesson will be missed. If less notice than that is given, provision of a makeup lesson will only be done at the discretion of the teacher. All make-ups are to be completed by the end of the holidays following the semester in which the missed lessons occurred. Make-up lessons will be given only at times and dates within the teacher's normal teaching schedule or can be arranged at any mutually agreeable time. The lesson is considered to have been given if the student misses the scheduled make-up lesson for any reason. Make-up lessons are limited to two in any given semester; they may not be "carried over" from one semester to another. There are no refunds for missed lessons.

Regular punctual attendance of lessons is an issue of responsibility and choice on the part of parents and students. Please be considerate and call/text if you must cancel a lesson for any reason. As stated above you need to call within 24 hours of our lesson to receive a Make-up lesson if you have paid per term. The studio shall, however, assume financial responsibility should I (Christine Buurman) become ill, be out of town, or cancel for any reason. A make-up lesson will be issued or the following month's regular fee will then be reduced by that particular amount Please remember that too many lesson cancellations may result in poor progress. Improvement greatly depends on consistent piano instruction and practice.

It is understood that each child behaves differently. Nevertheless, the studio reserves the right to terminate a student's lessons for the following infractions:

·       Inappropriate behaviour toward me on the part of the student. This includes violent outbursts, swearing, defamation of character, unacceptable advances or any other displays which fall outside the realm of common respect and decency.

·       Poor attendance and lack of communicating cancellations.

·       Continually failure to pay for lessons in full by due date for pay per term or at lesson for pay per lesson.

Parking in the driveway is suitable only for picking up and dropping off otherwise please park on the street whilst still respecting my neighbour’s driveways. When waiting for your lesson or picking up your child please remain in the front waiting area as a courtesy to other students.

There are no public bathroom amenities so please ensure you/your child is ready for their lesson before hand with clean hands .
